Quadrotor 3D
I designed this all-3D printed quadrotor so I could learn to fly something slightly less expensive and less fragile before I tried to take the 'aesthetic' quad to the skies.
This quad was built around the remnants of a friend's quad that was crashed too many times (shoutout to David for the part donations).
This now has TWO versions: one with static legs and one with spring-loaded legs inspired by my developing pilot skills and one-star crash test ratings on the first version of the frame.
The spring-loaded legs have one spring to keep the leg at full extension as well as a shorter, wider one with a much higher spring coefficient that engages when the leg is partially contracted. The legs are optimized for an impact at roughly 45°
In the gallery there is a still-frame from high speed video of the leg at full contraction after a ~5ft vertical fall.
